Already Booked Direct?

Transfer your booking and keep everything, except the guesswork

Booked directly with the cruise or tour company? You can transfer your reservation to Ben's Luxury Journeys for free. Your price, suite, and deposit remain identical, you just gain a dedicated luxury travel advisor.

How it works

Step 1

Send me your confirmation

Forward your booking confirmation or share your reservation number and the cruise line or tour operator you booked with.

Step 2

I request the transfer

Each line has a short transfer form and a window after booking, often 14-30 days, during which a reservation can be moved to an advisor. I handle the paperwork directly with the line. You might have to sign a form, depending on the cruise line.

Step 3

Nothing about your trip changes

Same ship, same suite, same price, same deposit. The only difference is that you now have someone in your corner for everything that comes next.

What you gain at the same price

Price monitoring until final payment

If the fare drops or a better promotion appears before your final payment date, I catch it and get it applied. Booked direct, nobody is watching for that.

Added amenities where available

On many sailings I can layer on shipboard credit or other extras that aren't offered when you book on your own, at the same fare you're already paying.

A person, not a call center

Dining reservations, shore excursion strategy, suite questions, celebration planning, flight schedules. You email or call me directly and I take care of it.

How each line handles transfers

Every line sets its own window and its own process for moving a direct booking to an advisor. Here is what I work from.

Within 30 days of booking

Regent Seven Seas and Oceania

Send me your sail date, reservation number, and guest names, and I'll send you the transfer form to complete.

Within 60 days of booking

Viking

Just share your booking number and guest names, and I'll take care of the transfer.

Any time before final payment

Tauck

You call Tauck directly and tell them you'd like your booking transferred to your travel advisor, Ben Woessner with Ben's Luxury Journeys, along with the booking number and guest names. I'll walk you through the call before you make it.

Common questions

Does it cost anything?

No. The cruise line pays the advisor commission either way. When you book direct, that commission simply stays with the line. Transferring costs you nothing and your fare does not change.

Is my booking eligible?

Regent and Oceania bookings must be transferred within 30 days of the booking, Viking within 60, and Tauck allows a transfer right up until final payment is made. Other lines have their own rules. Send me your confirmation and I'll confirm eligibility the same day.

What do guests who book directly usually miss?

Travel insurance comes up most often. The strongest plans and the broadest coverage, including waivers for pre-existing medical conditions, are only available for a short period after your first payment. Guests who book on their own often never hear about that window, and by the time they think about insurance the better options have already closed. The line will also only offer its own policy, so most direct bookers never see what else is available.

Will a cruise line steer me into a worse room?

Call center agents are measured on what they sell, not on whether the room suits you. A guaranteed category, an obstructed view, or a cabin beside a busy stairwell is the quickest way to close a call. I always start from the category I would book for myself, never a guarantee, and I will tell you plainly when a lower price is really an obstructed room or a loud location.

Do the lines tell you when a ship isn't a good fit?

Not usually. A line is going to recommend its own ships, including ones that are dated, waiting on a refurbishment, or sailing an itinerary in the wrong season. I only put forward ships and sailings I would send a friend on, and I will say when a ship, an itinerary, or a time of year isn't worth your money.

Will anyone remind me about dining, excursions, and hotels?

Not from the line. Call center staff are measured on taking the booking, and the conversation ends there. Nobody calls you back when specialty dining reservations open, when a shore excursion you wanted sells out, or when your pre and post-cruise hotel and flights need arranging. I track those dates for you and handle the arrangements on either side of the sailing.

Is the cruise line's own insurance the only choice?

It is the only one the line will offer you. A cruise line sells its own policy and nothing else, and those plans tend to carry narrower coverage at a higher price. Working with an advisor, you can compare plans from many reputable third-party insurers and choose the one that actually fits the trip you have booked. Read more about why cruise line insurance plans fall short.

What if I already have an onboard booking?

Even better. Onboard bookings with Regent can be transferred within 30 days of returning home, and you keep every onboard perk. Read more about Regent's onboard booking program.
